Driving Agricultural Transformation India’s agriculture and allied sectors are witnessing a significant transformation, marked by rising productivity, stronger farmer support systems, and greater resilience. Agriculture remains the backbone of India's economy, providing livelihoods to approximately 46.1 percent of the workforce. Livestock and fisheries have maintained stable growth of 5-6 percent, strengthening rural incomes and supporting agricultural diversification. Over the past decade, sustained policy interventions have improved access to credit, insurance, and markets, and accelerated the adoption of digital technologies. Growing investments in food processing, cooperatives, livestock, dairy, and fisheries are enabling greater value addition, income diversification, and employment across the agricultural value chain.
